Sheriff Cecil Lay

Cecil Melvin Lay was born November 1, 1898 in Morganton, Arkansas to Allen Benjamin and Ida Bradford Lay. He married Reta Viola Patton on April 27, 1919 in Clinton. He served as sheriff from 1941 to 1946. He was also a rural mail carrier. Mr. and Mrs. Lay raised three children. He later moved to Little Rock and died there March 4, 1988 and is buried in Bradley Cemetery near Clinton.
