Jail Incident

From the desk of Scott Bradley

On August 2, 2016 an incident at the jail resulted in two inmates being transported to Ozark Health. At approximately 11:30 p.m., a jailer asked two inmates if they liked Key Lime pie. The jailer then handed them a bar of soap with a printed label “key lime pie”. One inmate opened the wrapper of the bar of soap. Before the inmate took a bite of the bar of soap, he was immediately told not to eat the soap by two jailers. The inmate jokingly took a bite of the soap and handed the remaining bar to another inmate who took a bite as well. Both inmates were seen on cell cameras spitting out the soap into a trash can. A short time later, both inmates began to complain of sickness from taking a bite out of a bar of soap. As a precaution, both inmates were taken to Ozark Health via ambulance to be checked out. Within 15-20 minutes, both inmates were cleared with no residual medical issues. The Jailer involved was placed on Administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
