Florida men arrested in Van Buren County for Felony Fleeing and Theft by Receiving.

On December 17th, 2015 at approximately 12:30 PM, Damascus City Police Department, tried to make a traffic stop on a white Toyota Camry headed south on US Highway 65 in Damascus. Officer reported the vehicle would not stop and was traveling a high rate of speed. Officer then reported the vehicle changed direction, making U- turn in the middle of the highway head north on US Highway 65 toward Clinton. During the pursuit the vehicle struck several other vehicles in its attempt to evade police. A short time later Van Buren County Deputies, Arkansas Highway Patrol, and the Arkansas State Police aided Damascus in the pursuit of the Camry. As the vehicle was entering the city limits of Clinton the vehicle was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Trying to evade the law enforcement, the vehicle turn east onto Williamson Drive just past Sonic Drive-In in Clinton. Williamson Drive is a dead end and also connects with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center. As the vehicle got to the end of the road it turned around and headed back toward the US Highway 65. At this time Law Enforcement had the roadway blocked. The Camry tried to drive off road threw a yard and hit driveway culvert losing control and hitting an oak tree head on. Officer arrested 3 black males from Florida, 23 year old Kareem Jermaine Brown of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, 26 year old Christopher O’Neil Pierre of Lauderhill, Florida, and 18 year old Darion Sequan Matthews. Matthews was transported to Ozark Medical to be treated for minor injuries. A search of the vehicle found pillow case with jewelry inside, and illegal drugs. Also found in the vehicles was window punches, used by emergency personnel for breaking out windows in case of emergencies.
Investigators from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, determined after criminal history checks Brown was wanted in Ohio, and Kentucky for felony Burglary and Pierre was on Probation from Florida. It was also found by Investigators, after speaking with detectives in Ohio, Brown was a gang member of a gang out of Florida called the “Snap Money Gang”. Ohio detectives, said the gang usually travels across Interstate 70 in the eastern part of the United States, breaking into cars and Burglarizing homes. Ohio detectives said Brown has been on the run and two of his gang associates has already been charged in Burglaries in Kentucky and Ohio.
Investigator from Cleburne County are investigating break-ins in Cleburne County that occurred a few hours before the Brown, Pierre, and Matthews were arrested in Van Buren County, that had jewelry stolen from homes.
Brown, Pierre, and Matthews are being charged with 2 count of felony fleeing by a vehicle, felony Theft by receiving, misdemeanor Possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, Improper passing, driving left of center, and Failure to maintain control of a vehicle.
Brown, Pierre, and Matthews are currently incarcerated at the Van Buren County Detention Center.
Investigation is continuing and more charges could be pending. Brown has a felony hold from Ohio and Kentucky and Pierre has a probation hold from Florida.
