The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department received two reports of break- ins during the week of October 12. The first incident was a reported burglary of the Choctaw VFW. The suspect(s) broke in through a back door and took a small amount of cash. The second report was a residence located at 2140 Hwy 330. The Suspect(s) entered through a garage door and took a few items they could carry off. Both scenes were processed for evidence where Investigators linked the crimes together and quickly developed a suspect for both burglaries. On October 20, 2014, the course of the investigation led Van Buren County Sheriff’s Investigators to a conclusion. George Bigelow , 40, of Clinton was arrested on an outstanding warrant in the days after these incidents. Bigelow will face charges of Residential Burglary, Commercial Burglary and theft of property in connection with the VFW burglary as well as the residence on Hwy 330. Bigelow is currently being held at the Van Buren County Detention Center on a “no bond” due to previous charges. |
