Clinton, Arkansas- Due to the travel history and symptoms of a patient presenting to Ozark Medical Center, precautionary measures were implemented in the accordance with guidelines prepared by the Centers for Disease Control regarding the treatment of patients at increased risk for the Ebola Virus Disease> The Guidelines can be found at http://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/pdf/checklist-patients-evaulated-us-evd.pdf. Upon further testing and consultation with the Arkansas Department of Health, it was later determined the patient was not at increased risk for Ebola.
"Our staff performed professional and in a manner we can all be proud of," said David Deaton, Ozark Health Chief Executive Officer. "Based on the heightened awareness regarding the Ebola situation, we did not want to make unnecessary risks and, therefore, implemented measures appropriate for the situation. Contrary to several news reports, Ozark Health Medical Center was never placed under "lockdown", though, enhanced precautionary measures, including the use of personal protective equipment and isolating potentially contaminated areas, were implemented."
