02/14/2012 Call for help behind Van Buren County Detention Center Leads to Drug Arrest. |

On the evening of 02/14/2012 Van Buren County Deputy Sheriffs were alerted by inmate trustees of the jail who heard somebody yelling for help behind the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department / Detention Center. Deputies responded to the cries for help to find that Christopher Irby (22) of Conway had driven his vehicle to the area behind the jail where it had become stuck or broken down. Deputies quickly determined that Irby was under the influence of drugs and subsequently located a small amount of Suspected Methamphetamine and Using Paraphernalia for the same in his vehicle. An Agent of the 20th Judicial District Drug Task Force responded to assist deputies in the investigation. The evidence was packaged according to standard procedure and will be submitted to the state crime lab for analysis. Irby was arrested by deputies and formal felony charges are expected to be filed in Van Buren County Circuit Court on him for Possession of Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia. |
