Indoor Marijuana Grow Seized In Van Buren County
From the desk of Sheriff Scott Bradley and the Office of Prosecuting Attorney Cody Hiland:
On the morning of Monday November 14th 2011 Deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department responded to the 500 block of Green Tree Lane to a report of a possible burglary. The report was made by a neighbor of the property after noticing that the front door of the residence was standing open. Deputies could see some items of drug paraphernalia in plain view on the coffee table in the front room of the residence. The deputies contacted the 20th Judicial District Drug Task Force and agents responded to the location to assist them in the investigation. The owner of the property arrived at the location and advised that nobody was supposed to be at the residence and that the last renters had moved out months earlier. The owner of the property gave officers consent to search the property and officers located an in-door marijuana grow inside the residence. The grow operation was not in production, but the equipment was still in place and evidence of several marijuana plants that had been processed were also located. The property owner advised that the items were not there when the last renters moved out in June.
The items of evidence were processed and removed from the location by the Drug Task Force and the incident is still under investigation. Anybody with any information regarding suspects in this case is urged to contact the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department.
