From the Desk of Sheriff Scott Bradley and the 20th Judicial District Drug Crime Task Force
On Friday June 10, 2011, The Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Highway Police, Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, Damascus Police Department and 20th District Drug Task Force K-9 Unit was conducting drug interdiction along U.S. Highway Sixty-Five in Van Buren County. The Arkansas State Police pulled over a GMC pickup truck driven by Steve Marston of Willits, California for a traffic violation. The Trooper asked for consent to search and Marston refused to give consent. The Trooper was backed up by a K-9 Unit with the 20th District Drug Task Force and the K-9 was deployed and alerted on the vehicle. Agents then conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered approximately one-hundred-thrty-eight (138) pounds of high grade marijuana valued at approximatley $524,400.00 and Steve Marston age 54 was taken into custody and transported to the Van Buren County Detention Center. Marston was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. |
