10/20/2010 Clinton man arrested for vehicular assualt.
From the desk of Sheriff Scott Bradley
On October 20, 2010, Deputies with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to 203 Quattlebaum Road. The nature of the call was that there was a vehicle “ramming another vehicle”. At the scene, Deputies spoke to Darcy Lovell and Brandy Pearson. The person in the other vehicle who had allegedly rammed their vehicle, Devin Pearson, had left the scene. Mr. Pearson called a short time later from a residence and Deputies responded to that address.
Mr. Pearson explained that he had been assaulted by another person in the vehicle and he struck Mrs. Pearson’s vehicle as he was fleeing the scene. Further inspection of the Mrs. Pearsons vehicle revealed that it had been hit more than once. Mrs. Pearson stated that her vehicle had been hit twice. There were two adult passengers in the vehicle and two children, ages 2 and 3 that were also passengers.
Mrs. Pearson explained that she was traveling on Hwy 65 outside of Bee Branch when she saw Mr. Pearson, from whom she is separated from, driving up behind her and act as though he was going to hit her vehicle. Mrs. Pearson then turned off onto Quattlebaum Road where Mr. Pearson continued to follow her. She then pulled off the road where she and passenger, Cody Moses got out of the car to tell Mr. Pearson to stop following her. Mrs. Pearson explained that when Mr. Moses confronted Mr. Pearson, he attempted to get out of the vehicle. Mr. Moses then slammed the door of Mr. Pearson’s drivers side door. That is when Mr. Pearson allegedly rammed into Mrs. Pearson’s vehicle. Mrs. Pearson told that Mr. Pearson then left the scene, drove down the road, returned and attempted to hit Mr. Moses with his vehicle. At this time he allegedly hit Mrs. Pearson’s vehicle a second time, this time being at the rear passenger door on the drivers side where one of the children was sitting. Mr. Pearson then left the scene.
Devin Pearson, 22, of Clinton is charged with Aggravated Assault, 5 counts – Class D Felony, Battery 2nd Degree – Class D Felony, Endangering Welfare of a Minor, 4 Counts – Class D Felony, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree – Class C Felony, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree – Class B Misdemeanor and Assault 1st Degree – Class A Misdemeanor.
