From the desk of Sheriff Scott Bradley
On October 6, 2010, Deputies with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to 120 Church Camp Road. Mrs. Shirley Stark had called 911 to report that her grand daughter had been forced into a vehicle by Jesse Franks. Mr. Franks and the abducted female are engaged to be married. Deputies checked the last known address of Mr. Franks but were unable to contact him.
Deputies obtained a cell phone for the abducted juvenile and made contact with her. She claimed to have been “put out” on the side of the road, but didn’t know where she was at. Several calls were made later that night with the abducted not knowing where she was.
The next day, Deputies came in contact with Mr. Franks in the Higden area. Mr. Franks was taken into custody after a short pursuit. The abducted teen was returned previous to the arrest of Mr. Franks. She was found unharmed. Mrs. Starks injuries that resulted from being hit with the vehicle at the time of the abduction include a broken hip and a broken wrist.
Mr. Franks is currently being held at the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Detention facility charged with the following: Aggravated Assault - Class D Felony, Battery 1st Degree – Class D Felony, Endangering the Welfare of a Minor and False Imprisonment – both misdemeanor offenses.
