07/24/2010 Man arrested in Shirley at the Red River Bridge.

On or about July 24th, 2010 at approximately 2:40 PM, Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man in Shirley trespassing and stealing a Coleman grill from a residence on State Highway 16 East. The owner of the residence reported seeing a man, he/she thought to being in his 70’s with scraggly hair and tattoo’s on his body, taking a Coleman grill from the residence. Sheriff Scott Bradley of the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office made contact with the suspect vehicle near the Red River Bridge in Shirley. Bradley reported the vehicle drove under the bridge, where he and another Van Buren County Deputy arrested 57 year old Charles Denny Lesson of Leslie. The Coleman stove was recovered. Also assisting was a Trooper from the Arkansas State Police. Lesson was charged with misdemeanor assault in the third degree, criminal trespassing, theft of property and driving while intoxicated. Lesson was transported to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office and released on bond the next day.
