Sheriff Randy Gurley

Sheriff Randy Gurley (67) was born in DeWitt, AR on January 10, 1951. His family moved to Pine Bluff, AR when he was 3 years old. He attended and graduated from White Hall School. Sheriff Gurley also attended and graduated Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in Camden, AR in 1980 and Black River Technical College in Pocahontas, AR in 2002.

He had been married to Laura (Davis) Gurley for 33 years. Sheriff Gurley has 3 sons, Mark, Robert & Garrett Gurley, and 2 daughters, Angela Terry and Sherry King, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Sheriff Gurley started his Law Enforcement career at Pine Bluff Police Department (1976-1979), He was then Chief of Police at White Hall Police Department (1979-1982), he was then with Arkansas Highway Police (1982-1984). After leaving Arkansas Highway Police he started his own trucking company and ran it until selling it in 1997.

Sheriff Gurley then moved to Quitman, AR in 1998 where he went to work for the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office in 2001 as a Patrol Deputy, he then made Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Chief Deputy before becoming Sheriff in 2017. He held this position until his retirement December 31, 2018
