On August 13, 2011, skeletal remains were discovered in the Alread area of Van Buren County. The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department secured the area the evening of the initial report so that Sheriff's Investigators along with Arkansas State Police Investigators could begin the thorough processing of the scene early the next morning.

The remains were discovered approximately 3 miles from Hwy 16 West in an extremely remote area of the county. The remains were submitted to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for identification. The case will remain under investigation until an identification is made that could take several weeks. All investigative information related to this incident is of an extremely sensitive nature and will only be released when the case is completed.
