In the early morning hours of August, 18, 2010 Deputy C. Mason, with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department came in contact with a three-wheeler driving down Burnt Ridge Road.  Deputy Mason initiated a traffic stop, but the three-wheeler sped off.  They traveled a short distance where the three-wheeler took a dirt road and then a power line trail.  Deputy Mason left his patrol vehicle and continued the chase on foot for approximately 400 yards where took he driver of the three-wheeler into custody.

  Ronald Ernst, of Shirley was arrested for fleeing, but a NCIC check returned that Ernst had an outstanding warrant out of Van Buren County for failure to appear.  A search of Ernst also revealed a small amount of suspected methamphetamine.  Ernst is currently being held at the Van Buren County Detention Center without bond.
